ENTREPRENEURSHIP

At the end of my sophomore year, our school's journalism programs decided to make a website to air more timely news. Alongside a few classmates, I was on the team that helped make the website. I work with our social media editors to promote our full shows and individual stories across all our platforms.

CHS BONFIRE

The creation of CHS Bonfire took months to plan and make. A group combined of both Equus and CHS Wired staff members listed everything we wished to show on the website. With the help of a local web design company, we made a very visual and user friendly website that allows both journalism programs to report on timely news. Our website CHS Bonfire was launched August 2015.

Using Facebook, we share out stories posted to CHS Bonfire to the community. My "Guns on Campus" editorial was viewed 875 times which is almost ten percent of the Cody community.

After our show, students come up to me suggesting improvements. I write those down, along with notes I took during the show, and present the class with suggestions and goals we should meet for our following show.

We are currently making an app, much like CNN, that will allow students to download it and get notifications. We're hoping to debut it in the spring.

FACEBOOK

Facebook is our platform used to reach out to older viewers like parents and community members. Facebook is the easiest to use when we want to share things out quickly.

INSTAGRAM

Instagram is used for our student body. We post timely news that link to our CHS Bonfire website as seen in the first image in our profile. The link to Hunter's obituary can be seen in our biography. There's a new feature on Instagram giving the option to "Live Feed" a video. We plan to utilize this over sports events.

TWITTER

Along with Instagram, Twitter is also directed toward our student body. Twitter is hard to use as not a lot of students use it. However, we still use it to the best of our ability.

SNAPCHAT

Our Snapchat is a little hard to use because we have a limited amount of students that see it. We use the "story" feature that allows us to post a video or photo that stays on our profile for 24 hours. This feature lets us post a quick 10 second video or photo promoting our show.

SPONSORSHIPS

National conventions are expensive so in order to attend I have to sell sponsorships to local businesses. We have a variety of different sponsorships including video commercials, logos, and other multimedia options. Businesses can help "Feed The Fire" by contacting us on our website.
